Dementia Services
LEAP is now offering services to people living with dementia
and their carers.
These services - lunch clubs, music groups and a memory lane cafe - are now available in Cambuslang, Rutherglen, and East Kilbride and we are looking to expand into Hamilton soon.
Lunch Clubs
Our Lunch Clubs are specifically for people living with dementia and their carers. The group begins with lunch, then the carers separate into their own space for a wellbeing or information session while the people living with dementia stay in the main area for activities. This gives the carers a chance to breathe and offer each other peer support in the knowledge their loved ones are safe and supported in a caring environment.
In Cambuslang, our Wednesday Lunch Club meets every first and third Wednesday of the month in Clydeford View Sheltered Housing between 12 Noon and 2.00pm. This club is open to people from Cambuslang, Rutherglen and Blantyre. The group is currently full but we are taking names for a waiting list.
Our Thursday Lunch Club takes place in Strathcona Sheltered Housing in East Kilbride on the second and fourth Thursday of the month between 11:30am and 1:30pm. We have availability in this group, so please contact us to register your interest.
Music for the Mind
Do you love to sing and dance? Then our music groups are for you. An hour-long session comprising of chair exercises to music, a musical activity and a sing-a-long. Carers are welcome to join in the fun or enjoy a cuppa nearby.
East Kilbride: every first and third Friday of the month in the Healthy and Active Hub, 300 Cornwall Street (beside Odeon Luxe cinema) between 10.30am and 11.30am.
Rutherglen: every first and third Tuesday between 10:30am and 11:30am in Spittal Community Centre, Carrick Road, Rutherglen, G73 4LJ.
We have availability in both our Music for the Mind groups, so please contact us to register your interest.
Memory Lane Cafe
A monthly drop in cafe to give carers and people living with dementia or memory loss a chance to socialise and share experiences over a cuppa. Activities like jigsaws will be available during the session with speakers and entertainers throughout the year.
